Passover 2018: Tearing Down Walls

This year as I have been praying over my Passover post, one scripture has come over and over in my mind. Ephesians 2:14 NIV “For he himself is our peace, who has made two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility.”

Passover is all about freedom from bondage and a shift in thinking. For the Hebrews to come out of bondage, it wasn’t enough to just physically leave Egypt, they had to mentally leave slavery.

The Church and our world today are both bound with wrong thinking and wrong perceptions. During this cycle of feasts in 2018; the Hebrew year 5778, a year of new beginnings, a year of war. This is also a seventy year, seventy meaning a choice between unity and disunity. Israel’s seventieth anniversary is this year! I want to focus on tearing down walls in the church world and in the world.

ONE NEW MAN

From the very beginning God intended for Jew and Gentile to be one. Even in the Old Testament (First Covenant) Gentiles connected with the Jewish people. Moses father-in-law was a Gentile who said, “I will follow you, but let me first go get my people and then come back to you.” It wasn’t until Acts ten that Gentiles first heard the gospel. From that time the enemy has pulled out all the stops to keep Jews and Gentiles separated. The truth is we as Christians have a Jewish Savior, a Jewish Bible, we have a Hebrew heritage. Wether you want to call it Hebrew heritage or Jewish roots, the New Testament (Renewed Covenant) is clear, Jesus never intended to start a second group divorced from the first.

Galatians 3:9 NASB “So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer.”

Romans 11:13-24 NIV “13 I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry 14 in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them. 15 For if their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? 16 If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches. 17 If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, 18 do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” 20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either. 22 Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. 23 And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. 24 After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!”

There is much talk about end times and rapture and how almost all signs are fulfilled. Forget natural signs. Scripture is clear that Jesus is coming back for a bride without spot or wrinkle. The Christian Church even among people in the same denomination are so divided we are not close to the Lord’s return. Even with how far off we are with that, Jesus is not stopping in Jerusalem to get the Jews and then stopping at denominational headquarters to get the Christians. He is coming back for one new man. We Christians are called to provoke the Jews to jealousy. That isn’t going to happen because we have big bank accounts, that is going to happen because our relationship with Jesus produces revelation of the relevance of the first covenant and obedience to the Word of God including participating in the joyous feasts each year, resting at Shabbat each week, doing acts of kindness and sharing the Jewishness of Jesus, Yeshua, the Messiah with His chosen people. To the Jew first then the Greek.

There is more that can be said on this subject but for all that see my Hebrew Heritage Series along with the Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles teaching series.

The last several years have seen a surge in a love for Israel among the Church and I praise God for that! Along with that though, we must begin reading the Bible with Hebrew eyes and a Hebrew understanding. We must love and share the good news with our Jewish brothers and sisters and become one new man.

If this portion of the post has stirred something in you, I want to encourage you to read the other series I have mentioned and to sow a Passover offering to bless the Jewish people. There are a number of great Christian ministries that are blessing the Jewish people and sharing the Messiah with them. If you do not know of one, I encourage you to give to Larry Huch Ministries. They support a hospital, have an olive grove, help Holocaust survivors and more. If you would like to learn more about the Jewish roots of your faith, also check out the recommended reading page.

TEARING DOWN RACISM

America almost seems more divided than ever when it comes to racial issues. Wether it is gun control, cops and communities, all out Twitter wars, our country needs a healing and the root of racism needs to be plucked up. We all know this is true, yet many in the Church, myself included have been drug by the political spirit into nasty divisiveness. What is more, most churches in this nation are still divided by color. It is time for us to overthrow divisive politics in our own individual thinking. Yes, we all have positions and thoughts and that is fine but the Church isn’t helping heal a broken world right now.

My prayer during this Passover season is that we in the body of Christ would have eyes to see. That we would come out of bondage to political ideology and reach out to those we disagree and hear their stories and learn how to pray with and for one another. It sounds cheesy but it’s true, there is only one race and that’s the human race. Examine your heart today has a political spirit taken root in your heart that has put you on sides concerning racial issues or issues made to be about race? Do you hear someone you disagree with and automatically boil with anger? Remove the roots of anger, bitterness, hatred and anything else that does not belong in your life. Take back control.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

I try to keep these posts somewhat short and I’m already at length. Even though there is much more that can be said on these and other topics, I want to leave you with one thought. I am redeemed by the blood of the Lamb out of the hand of the enemy. That is Passover in a nutshell. Thanks to Dr. Robert he idler for that phrase.

Four years ago at this time, the Lord brought me back to the teaching on Jewish roots that I didn’t understand when I was twelve. It began changing my life four years ago and this year God accelerated that. If your heart has not come alive to that, that’s ok. I hope you will still be encouraged through the teachings on this site. If something has awakened in you, please don’t ignore it. Search things out, read books, listen to teachings and pray that Holy Spirit would give you direction.

Pray for your nation, wether you live in America or somewhere else. Pray that bondage of your fellow Christians would be broken and that the hearts of those who don’t know Jesus will be open to Him. Recommit yourself to the Lord on this Good Friday. Ask for a fresh revelation of the cross and resurrection. Set aside time to take communion today and reflect on our wonderful savior.

Significance and Thoughts From the Blood Moon 4.15.14 (Nisan 5774)

To begin, the significance is not in the blood moon itself but in the fact that it occurred on a feast day. It is also significant that the Hebrew month Nisan started on the first of the Gentile month.

Before we get into this I want to make it clear this is not an end of the world post. We are not to look at everything that happens through the lens of the end. I believe the enemy’s greatest tool is to get us focused on the end so we don’t do the work of the Kingdom.

Scripture makes it clear that no man knows the day or the hour of Christ’s return, Christ Himself does not even know. In looking at this sign I believe it is appropriate to take it as a sign and a “heads up” if you will for a coming move of the Spirit.

I went to bed last night and could not go to sleep because I knew at 2:15am I had my alarm set to go off so that I could get up and go outside and see the moon and spend time waiting before the Lord.

Feast days are “appointed times” to meet with God. There are “set times” each year on G-ds calendar (the Hebrew calendar) for us to meet with Him.

In Genesis twenty eight a dream Jacob had is recorded, he saw a ladder from heaven and angels ascending and descending. 28:16-17 NASB “Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.” (17) He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”

Psalm 24:6-10 NASB “This is the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face- even Jacob. Selah. (7) Lift up your heads, O gates, And be lifted up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! Who is the King of glory? (8) The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. (9) Lift up your heads, O gates, And lift them up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! (10)Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah.”

The appointed times on His calendar are gates or doors of times when revelation will flow easy to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear.

When I went outside this morning I first began by asking my heart to be cleaned of all impurity through repentance. I then asked that I would have eyes to see and ears to hear what the Spirit of the LORD had to say during this season, from Passover to Pentecost.

Many believers are treating this as just a cool moon we must recognize the fact we are standing under an open heaven during this feast time and the Spirit of the LORD wants to bring revelation. This why I was awake, this is why I went outside, I knew that during the time of the blood moon a special gate of revelation would be open and I did not want to miss it, a special gate is still open during this eight day feast time.

I stood outside for thirty to forty five minutes or so and came back in. When I laid down I knew I was to continue waiting on the Lord.

Two words came this morning and that is what I want to share with you.

The first thing I heard in my spirit was this. “SEEK my face and get out of tunnel vision. The body gets focused on one part of what I am doing and does not see the whole picture. Take the blinders off, come together as a whole body, denominations unite and see my whole picture.”

When He finished speaking I just began to ponder that word and I knew when we focus on a certain way He moves or even our favorite teaching that has the potential to distract us from what He is doing as a whole and worse yet gets our eyes off Him and on to His THINGS.

We are in a season now to whole heartily seek His face and hear Him speak.

The second word I heard came through a video I turned on of Dutch Sheets relating a dream about going back to our roots.

In order to have victory in the future we must pull from the past. Everything should build upon the last thing. No generation should have to start from scratch but run with what the previous generation left them.

Later on in the morning I saw a tweet from Seedbed saying they are undertaking a new project to release the lesser known works of John Wesley. This will help us get back to our roots!

We need to read biographies of the great men and women who have gone before us. We need to read their sermons and their books. We must connect with the generations gone by in order for us to walk in all that God has for us. God used men and women from the past to restore great truths we cannot discard that.

We are in a season when the Spirit is speaking and He is going to move the only way we can be a part of that is if we have eyes to see and ears to here.

Pray as I did this morning, Lord give me your eyes to see how you see, give me ears to hear, give me wisdom and revelation so I know how you are moving and I how I am supposed to move in this time.

Do not take this season lightly, do not blow it off. Turn your eyes to Jesus, knock, seek, and ask. Be ready for we are beginning to enter one of the greatest seasons we have ever known.

2014 – A Year of Victory

brnEach year I take the last few months of the year and begin seeking the Lord about the direction/ or “theme” if you will of the next year. As I began praying over 2014 I felt the Holy Spirit say that 2014 will be a year of victory for the Bible obeyer.

I began to ask specifically what areas of victory were referred to and the first thing I heard was victory over sin and temptation.

1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

We have been given the tools to overcome temptation, the truth is we just choose to give into it instead of fight against it.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NIV “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

Ephesians chapter six gives us the armor of God and James 1:14-15 tells us how temptation operates. 2014 will be a year of the believer rising up and taking hold of the truth that we don’t have to sin everyday but that those who are filled with the Spirit are no longer under the bondage of sin, Romans six says.

Along those same lines, 2014 will be a year of the Word. Our victory comes by the Word in our hearts and out our mouths. Jesus defeated the enemy by quoting the Word. Our situations change by the Word we speak, we either speak in line with God’s plan or the devils plan and we reap the results.

Proverbs 6:2 tells us we are snared by the Words of our mouth.

Proverbs 18:21 MSG “Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.”

2014 will be a year of the Christian getting into their Bible, knowing their Bible, and being able to quote their Bible! The only way we overcome temptation is by knowing the Word.

Part of knowing the Word is knowing who the Word (Jesus) says you are. 2014 will be a year for learning and knowing who you are in Christ.

2014 will be a year of victory specifically in finances, we are not bound to this worlds economy, God takes care of His children and we can know that even in the most difficult times that Proverbs 10:22 NLT declares “The blessing of the LORD makes a person rich and He adds no sorrow with it” The amplified Bible says, and toil does not increase it. While others outside of God’s economy (tithing and giving) are frustrated and fearful, we don’t have to be because we are under a different economy.

That does not mean we wont face hard times, it just means that God will bring us through them, take care of us while we are in them, and restore us on the other side of them.

For the Bible obeyer 2014 will be a year of victory! Notice for the Bible obeyer, we must walk obedient to the Lord to receive THE BLESSING of God.

As we go through 2014 we will take time to look at each of these things individually, we will kick off with the In Christ series to learn who we are and what we have through our inheritance with Christ.

We will do a holiness series to learn how to live and walk before God because it is those who walk holy who are able to dwell i the presence of God and be under His protection, Psalm 15 and Psalm 91 tells us.

We will do a series on spiritual warfare so we can know how to have the victory over the devil who is defeated.

2014 will be a great year packed with great truth, great victory, and great spiritual connections!

Father, we thank you for what you have in store for us in 2014, We thank you for victory, for a spirit of endurance, and a heart of trust, we thank you for the blessings that will manifest in 2014, we thank you for the tests and trials you will bring us through. We thank you for all your good plans for us and we ask that you help us to walk obediently and lovingly before you and help us to walk in love to those around us in Jesus name.

Advent Week 4

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2:1-6 NIV)

Advent Week 3

Ephesians 1:17-23 NIV “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”

Advent Week 2

Isaiah 9:6-7 NIV “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (7) Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his Kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.”

Advent Week 1

As we begin the season of Advent, I invite you to get your Bible and meet with me each Monday as we remember the reason for the season.

I encourage each of  you to sign up for an advent reading plan from YouVersion and have a daily time of reflection.

I pray your Christmas season is blessed.
