“Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.”
Luke 24:51 NKJV
After His resurrection Jesus appeared to many people, including His disciples and He opened the Scripture to them so that they could see that they spoke of Him.
The Ascension wasn’t the end of Jesus’s work; redemption was accomplished, but His work of intercession was just beginning.
Romans 8:34 NKJV “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”
Not only do we have the Holy Spirit Living in us, but Jesus Himself is praying for us. As we have a Great Comission to carry out, we are empowered by the Spirit and prayed for by the Son.
The disciples were discouraged when Jesus first told them He was going away, and at times we get discouraged as well. Yet we have an assurance of the very prayers of Jesus and we have an example of what He is praying for us in John seventeen. The work of redemption is accomplished, but rest assured that Jesus is in intercession for you and the Holy Spirit is with you to teach and empower you.
