Morning Devotion: Word

“My soul melts from heaviness; Strengthen me according to Your word.”
Psalm 119:28 NKJV

Are you fearful, worried, or depressed? Your strength, your hope, and your peace is found in the Word of God.

We are directed by the Word and we rejoice in the Word. As we meditate on the Word of God it revives us. The Lord is merciful to us according to His Word and even when we suffer affliction it brings us to the Word which is His mercy.

The Lord could leave us to our own devices and let us make bad decision after bad decision but in His mercy the consequence of bad decisions can ultimately lead us back to His Word where blessing resides.

Psalm 119 is full of examples of how we are strengthened, revived, renewed, find delight, have wisdom because of the Word.

In the Psalm we are encouraged to meditate on the Word. When we meditate on the Word it renews our mind and we think in line with God instead of the flesh.

So many times we find ourselves running after other things instead of running to the Word. The Word is our answer. It is our life, our strength, our hope, and our correction. Spend time in the Word every day. Read Psalm 119 several days in a row and let it renew your mind. Look up other verses that talk about the Word and it’s power and place in the life of the believer. Read, study and memorize them. Be conformed to the image of Christ through the renewing of your mind with the Word of God.

Ephesians 4:20-24 NKJV “But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”

Romans 12:2 NKJV “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
