Evening Devotion: Mercy

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.”
Psalm 23:6 NKJV

The mercy of God is such an incredible gift to us. Mercy is undeserved, that is what makes it mercy. We were enemies against God. Romans 5:8 NKJV “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

It is because of that mercy that we are able to approach God. Hebrews 4:14-16 NKJV “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Because of Jesus we have access to the Father, we have help to overcome temptation, and mercy follows us all the days of our lives. Receive that mercy and extend that mercy.
