Evening Devotion: Know

“Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.”
I John 2:3‭-‬5 NKJV

The evidence of knowing God is in our obedience to Him. Jesus said, if you love Me you will obey Me.

So many times we find ourselves seeking words from others, desiring a feeling of closeness, and so many other things to know God, yet we know Him through His Word.

It seems to simple to just know Him through the Bible, there has to be something more. Countless times I’ve listened as people talk about wanting more. We talk about the latest book we’ve read, we listen to someone share a dream or some great vision, yet so many times the Scripture is lacking.

Let us return to a true and simple knowing. Let us return to Bible reading, prayer and studying the Word. All the other things we find ourselves seeking after are of far less value than the depth of the Scriptures.
