“I will praise You, O Lord , with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.”
Psalm 9:1 NKJV

Praise. To celebrate, glory, to boast (in God), and give thanks (Vine’s Expository Dictionary). Praise has such a depth of meaning to it and to praise God with our whole heart has to mean more than simply singing on Sunday morning.

Boast in God, tell of what He has done. It is interesting that before Stephen was stoned he basically summarized the entire Old Testament and the ministry of Jesus. Moses continually rehearsed the works of God. To boast in God is to remember who God is and what He has done.

Celebrate and give thanks for who He is and what He has done every day. Think about His sovereignty, how He watches over you. Rejoice in the God of your salvation.

If you read five Psalms a day you can read through the entire book each month. What a way to increase your praise life. When you face difficulty, praise. When you’re in a panic, pray and praise. Let the Psalms be a reminder of God’s sovereignty and let them guide your praise.
