“For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name’s sake, Lead me and guide me.”
Psalm 31:3 NKJV
When Jesus asked the disciples who do men say that I am, they responded some say Elijah, some say John the Baptist. But when He asked, who do you say I am? Peter responded, You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Jesus said on this rock I will build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
The rock wasn’t Peter, but the revelation that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.
Ephesians 2:19-22 NKJV “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”
Jesus is the cornerstone built on the foundation of the apostles (New Testament) and prophets (Old Testament). Throughout the Psalms God is referred to as our rock. The fact that Jesus is the son of God is the rock the church is built on. When you build your house on the rock, the rains come and the waves crash in but the house still stands.
Build your life on the rock, Jesus Christ and you will be able to withstand anything that comes.
