Part 2: We are Salt & Light

imageMatthew 5:13 NKJV “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.

Matthew 5:13-16 is a portion of scripture that deals with the character of a believer. In the matter of being the salt of the earth, we need to remember the salt covenant of God with Israel.

Salt in the natural is a preservative, in the spiritual our “salt” so to speak is found in Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness (23) gentleness, self-control, against such there is no law.”

The proof and preservative of our Christlike character is the fruit of the Spirit.

Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. (15) Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all those who are in the house. (16) Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Most believe that Jesus is the light of the world, that is true, yet Jesus said just as I have been sent I send you.

It says that are good works would be seen, there is much false humility in the Church, much false pride that says we have nothing to do with the move of the Holy Spirit. Food would have not multiplied if the disciples had not passed it out. We are called of God to minister the Kingdom, we need to quit minimizing that.

I mentioned earlier the fruit of the Spirit, there is also the gifts of the Spirit. If we are walking in the fruit the signs will follow.

Mark 16:17-18 “And these signs will follow them that believe: In my name they shall cast out devils; they will speak with new tongues; (18) they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing it shall by no means hurt them; they SHALL lay hands on the sick and THEY SHALL RECOVER.”

Matthew 10:7-8 ” Go preaching the message of THE KINGDOM and as you go, heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, and cast out devils.”

Jesus, being light, every time He healed someone it angered the religious people. People constantly said of Jesus, He speaks with authority, not like the Pharisees.

We must understand light in the context of the Scripture, Jesus read of Himself, “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, the proclaim liberty to those who are bound up and recovery of sight to the blind. To set at liberty those whom the devil has bound, to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.

Church we cannot be light unless we receive and DO the WHOLE WORD! This is not a buffet, to pick the things we like and are comfortable with, He sent the comforter because we would be uncomfortable at times.

Do you think spitting and sticking mud in someones eye sockets is comfortable? Do you think saying eat my flesh and drink my blood is comfortable?

Church its time to take Holy Spirit out of the back room and bring Him up on the platform.

Church we need a revival! A lasting, non-ending revival!

Church, since I heard of Pastor Steve Hill’s passing, I have been watching old Brownsville Revival services. I want that passion for souls, I want that passion for holiness!!

Dutch Sheets said a few weeks ago that we need to claim the anointings of the past and finish the work they started. Let us do Isaiah 58:12, Let us raise the foundations from the past, let us pull on those anointings! We need to walk in the anointings of Hill, Wigglesworth, Lake, Boswell, Kuhlman, Wesley, Edwards, and others!

Church we need a revival and that only comes through the fruit with an outflow of gifts.

Church quit choosing purity or power, we need both!

Purity without power leads to Phariseeism and power without purity leads to pollution.

If you were filled back in the Brownsville Revival when was the last time you had a fresh touch?

The disciples were filled in Acts two and re-filled in Acts four.

Get filled and leak!

Let your light shine and your salt be tasted! People need to taste and see the Lord is good!

Good is not just saved but sanctified, healed, free, and BLESSED!

Receive, ask for, cry out for a fresh touch today!
